Meet Buddy the Anole, our newest family member. Buddy was one of five Anoles that Girl 1 and her classmates had the privilege of studying in school this year. Buddy and his buddies needed forever homes found for them this week of course because the school year is coming to a close next week. Girl 1 and her 24 classmates were sent home with slips of paper describing the appeal of owning your very own Anole. 20 of those very smart parents didn't return their signed slip. A little over $100 dollars later and a few thousand "please Momma, oh please please please's", we now own a $5 Anole. (ok, on his behalf, he is kind of cute, and he's like a Chameleon in a way that he changes color from green to brown and back again, and should he expire someday I suppose his dwellings can always be used for another tropical reptile of some sort...) As long as the live crickets he consumes never escape out of their own container and into "my container" we'll get along fine, I suppose..... ;o)))
Designed to re-inspire creativity within myself, and maybe even in you, as well!

Planting season
For awhile it seemed like the snow would never go away. Then came the rain. Every day. Or so it felt like. This holiday weekend we gathered up our shovels and seed packets and went out to the garden to finally dig in the dirt. The ground felt warm on our bare feet as we planted the peas, beans, carrots and tomatoes. We talked about how tall the sunflowers might grow, and how many pumpkins and cucumbers we would get. We put a cage over the sunflower sprout that Girl 2 started in school so that the deer and bunnies wouldn't eat it, and put a rock, and then another for safe measure, on top of the cage so they wouldn't tip it over. And now we wait to see what sprouts, what gets nibbled on by the neighborhood bunnies, and what grows for little hands to pick and eat straight from the garden, warmed by the sun.
