It's a boy!

This summer my daughters and I raised Monarch butterflies, watching them as they grew from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly.  We found one final caterpillar on the milkweed plants about a month ago and transferred him to our butterfly hotel.  Usually they spend about 10 days in their chrysalis stage, but for some reason, this one remained in this stage for almost three weeks!  I really wasn't expect it to hatch, but then one day, about a month after we found him as a caterpillar, he finally emerged as this beautiful butterfly!  My daughter asked, "Which way is Mexico, momma?" since Monarchs born in late fall make the long migration to Mexico or southern California.  She then decided that we needed to release him on the south side of the yard so he wouldn't have as far to fly!  LOL  Good luck on your journey, Mr. Monarch!

S Family

I met up with this little guy, Mr. C., and his family at a local park this last weekend.  We had fun feeding the geese, throwing sticks in the water, and playing on the playground equipment.  It was  gorgeous afternoon - probably one of our last as they're predicting snow flurries this week!  I haven't had a chance to edit all of the photos yet, but I picked out a few of my favorites to post here now.  Enjoy them, S family, and I'll be getting the rest to you soon!

Sisters

Because of everyone's crazy busy schedules we haven't been able to set up a time for photos for this entire family yet, but I really did want to take advantage of the leaf colors with the girls before it was too late.  The family was so wonderful in letting me pop over for a short while yesterday evening to do just that, and I'm glad we did, because as you can see, the girls were adorable and we got some fun photos!  Thank you, O family, and I'm looking forward to taking more photos for you soon!  ;o)

Expecting

This beautiful expectant mother and her daughter were simply pure delight to photograph this weekend.  Big sister E is a natural in front of the camera too!  The hardest part of my job now is choosing only a few to post here!  Thank you, thank you for allowing yourself to be talked into doing this, D!

J & L at the LeDuc House

I spent a gorgeous Sunday afternoon at the LeDuc House photographing these two sisters.  You may recognize them from past posts - I photographed Miss J for her birthday last year also.  The wonderful volunteers at the house even allowed us to get a few photos with their chickens, which the girls loved!

S & C's sneak peek

I met up with this couple yesterday afternoon at a pumpkin patch in Stillwater for some colorful fall colors to accent their bike and then we went down to the river to try out some more ideas that I had.  Thanks for putting up with my many "oh wait, just one more idea!" requests!  :o)  They were so great to work with, and I had so many favorites from this shoot that it was hard just to choose a few to show here!  Here's your sneak peek S and C.  Hope you enjoy them!
